One In Every Whare
Last year, we shared the strategic framework shaping the future of Outward Bound. We identified the need to grow our impact, demonstrate sustainability leadership to stay relevant, and protect our future viability.
We have made great progress in the last 12 months, turning this framework into a clear strategy, and defining our ‘guiding star’.
We have anchored our two strategic priority areas around “Wāteatanga / Access” and “Haratautanga / Relevance”, as well as the foundational “viability” priority areas that will enable us to achieve our aspiration.
Internally we have stood up and resourced 9 workstreams to deliver against these areas, including course innovation, a second operating base, and an overhaul of our systems and processes.
We recognise the world is changing, and we have a valuable role to play in building a sustainable and prosperous future for Aotearoa New Zealand.
To do this, we need to adapt, as society grows and changes, so must we.
Most importantly, we have the opportunity to make a meaningful difference to the youth landscape in Aotearoa NZ.
Our rangatahi need Outward Bound now more than ever. We know that many young people are not thriving, but we also know that Outward Bound can be the spark that changes this.
We see it as our duty to help as many rangatahi as possible navigate this challenging and changing world they are inheriting from us.
Outward Bound has never been more relevant than we are right now. That’s why our guiding star is One in Every Whare.
One in Every Whare is our response to the 7 heartbreaking truths about New Zealand youth today.
Our goal is to reach 10% of rangatahi aged 16-26 yrs to positively change the direction of the youth landscape in Aotearoa New Zealand.Growing our capacity to 6,000 students annually will see 60,000 New Zealanders experience Outward Bound over 10 years. So, a whole generation living and breathing the vision of Better People, Better Communities, Better World. To achieve these targets, we have set up nine workstreams under three core strategic pillars.
