Ka Mahi Scholarship Overview

Outward Bound New Zealand is committed to offering our life-changing programmes to all Kiwis, regardless of their ability to contribute to course costs.

We believe in our courses and at Outward Bound we want to make them available to as many people as possible. If the cost of a course is beyond your financial means, you may be eligible for a scholarship.

Ka Mahi! Great Work!

OBNZ’s Ka Mahi Scholarship programme is supported by a variety of individuals, organisations and foundations.

Over the past 60 years, support from our generous donors has provided the opportunity for hundreds of people actively engaged in their community to realise their full potential by participating in our Classic, Masters and Discovery courses in Anakiwa.

The programme is guided by the principle that every person should be able to access the opportunity to experience adventure and challenge, develop character and compassion, and learn leadership skills and service ethics, regardless of financial ability.

Who is eligible for a Ka Mahi Scholarship?

Applicants must be a New Zealand Citizen or Resident aged 18+ years.

Scholarships may be available to anyone who identifies with one or more of the following statements:

I am actively involved in volunteering in my community
I have come through one of Outward Bound’s Community Partner organisations
I am actively helping in my community and/or championing diversity by working with a minority or disadvantaged group
I am experiencing a challenge (e.g. financial, emotional).
